CHAPTER 11

★

Jack has been living the stereotypical college student life lately. He’s been living off twenty-three cent cups of ramen and waiting until the very last minute to cram all of his homework. This isn’t entirely new, as he does that quite often and he’s still not a person who studies, but he’s been very much pushing it a lot. The young man has been pulling all-nighters to get his homework done so that he can turn it in the next day and he’s been oversleeping on school days, nearly making himself late to class every morning.

He’s often making trips to the market to get all of his cheap junk food and what unhealthy microwavable food he can find because cooking is too much of a chore at this point. Coffee is his best friend and his body is beat from dance and this semester cannot end too quickly. Although, when the semester ends, he won’t be making his scrap money from the campus bookstore.

Math is hard and he’s lucky that his boyfriend is good at it. They have a few tutoring sessions throughout the week, and while Jack didn’t spend too much time paying attention, he still caught on all while ogling the blond.

Most of the sessions they have consist of Marcus doing all of the talking and Jack struggling to keep his hands to himself. His math skills weren’t necessarily horrible but he definitely needed some help if he wanted to pass the class with a decent grade. It was a fifty-fifty chance if he’d pass at all and he didn’t want to take any chances.

Sometimes Marcus would allow an approximate two minute break so that Jack could attack him with kisses, but as soon as those two minutes were up, he’d snap back into teacher mode and explain the equations with letters mixed in with numbers. Jack often finds himself wanting to explode from how smart Marcus is. He’s a genius and it makes him that much more attractive.

The two of them text all day while Jack is at the campus library working. Most of the texts consist of Marcus telling the younger man to get back to work, that he shouldn’t be using his phone, but Jack doesn’t care. He’s able to multitask and since it’s the end of the week, not as many students can be found on campus. Friday’s are where classes can be held up only to a half day, but the library is still open as students live on site and the need for scantrons or notebooks can be fulfilled.

Jack likes it. He can ride on the book cart up and down the aisles while making car noises and no one can look at him funny if the library is empty. He can play music if he wants, watch videos on his phone, or read comics. And, he supposes, if there’s an actual desire, he’s able to do homework. If a customer comes in, he can quickly stop what he’s doing and be presentable.
